Beginning Quiltmaking

In this 3-week Beginning Quiltmaking class, you'll start at the very beginning, learning the basics of tools and fabric. Geary will teach you the three essential skills of quiltmaking: cutting, sewing and pressing while you make a terrific small quilt. You'll choose one of the quilts from Even More Quilts for Baby, but rest assured, these quilts are just as pretty in florals, plaids or any other "grown-up" fabric. You'll leave with a quilt top and the knowledge to go on to many other quilt projects. All levels welcome.

Art quilts made easy! Ricky Tims made an accidental discovery, leading to the beautiful quilts in his book Convergence Quilts. You can create the same magic: take two to four fabrics, do some easy cutting, piece twice and you’ve made a wonderful art quilt! You’ll learn how to do a Basic Convergence and a Curved Convergence in class. These basic skills will open the door to all the fabulous possibilities these quilts have to offer. You’ll also explore different ways to finish these unbelievably easy quilts. All levels welcome.

Patti's Hand Quilting Class is designed to introduce all levels of quilters to the many tools, materials and techniques available to quiltmakers today. All aspects of hand quilting, from marking a top to the mechanics of the quilting stitch, will be covered. Students will receive batting samples to try out different weights for different looks. Geary will take the trickiness out of piecing these beautiful blocks. Using Marti Michell’s Perfect Patchwork Templates and her strip-cutting technique, you will find yourself constructing these units with ease and confidence. Class Policies
* Pre-registration is required. Class size is limited, so enroll early to assure your place in class. Either register at the store or by mail or phone with a credit card. Payment must accompany registration.
* You will receive a supply list when you register. You will also receive a 10% Discount on all class supplies purchased at Quiltwork Patches. Sale merchandise excluded.
* Attendance at class is the responsibility of the student. If you cancel at least 4 days before the class, you will be issued a store credit. If you cannot attend, you are welcome to send a friend in your place.
* Classes may be subject to cancellation if a minimum number of students do not enroll. If Quiltwork Patches must cancel, we will mail you a refund (or you can take a store credit if you prefer).
* You are expected to know how to operate your machine and to have it in good working order.
* We ask that you do not bring food or drink with you to class. You are welcome to go to any of the many nearby restaurants. Water is always welcome.
* Please, do not bring children or friends with you to class unless they are signed up for the class as well.
